MCAD is Excited to Announce a New Partnership with Sabrina Vaz at Beautifully Balanced Coaching

Mast Cell Advanced Diagnostics is thrilled to announce its new partnership with Sabrina Vaz at Beautifully Balanced Coaching. In an effort to provide a comprehensive approach to mast cell activation disorders, connective tissue disorders and other related Zebra diseases, MCAD will now be offering both virtual and in person (once COVID-19 passes) Pilates, Gyrotonics and Gyrokinesis. Sabrina brings more than 30 years of experience in classical Pilates and has worked with those with a variety of conditions including Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Parkinson’s Disease and Fibromyalgia.

For those of you have worked with me personally you are aware that like most of my patients I have MCAS, POTS, and hypermobile EDS, among other health challenges. While I had successfully regained much of my own health, frequent joint dislocations and pain had continued to be a constant in my life. Despite my previous work in clinical and corrective exercise, as well as Pilates experience of my own I was just unable to make substantial progress on my own. Over the last couple of months, I have been doing Pilates several times per week with Sabrina. Thanks to her amazing insight and instruction, I am in a completely new place. My pelvis and shoulder girdle are more stable, my core is stronger, and my pain levels have decreased from a constant 7 to 9 out of 10 to about a 1. I cannot say enough about how grateful I am to be working with her myself and am beyond excited to bring her into my practice where she will be able to support even more of the Zebras that we work with at MCAD.

Dr. Jessica Pizano

Sabrina got hooked on Pilates from the moment she took her first class at Laban Centre in London England. She was initially drawn to the method because of injuries sustained from a car accident that ended her dance career. The benefits of Pilates healed her and transformed not just her spine but taught her the mind body connection. She was so excited about Pilates that when she returned to the States she began studying with Pilates Elder, Mary Bowen in Northampton Massachusetts. Upon Mary’s suggestion she got certified in Mat with The PhysicalMind Institute of Santa Fe New Mexico. Wanting to obtain as much information as possible Sabrina took a Contemporary Certification courses.

It was her quest for knowledge and her love of the system that brought her to Romana Kryzanowska and the infamous Drago’s Gym. In New York City, Sabrina was blessed to find the Pilates mentor who she credits to transforming her into the instructor she is today. Fully certified from the New York Pilates Studio in all equipment including many lessor known pieces such as the guillotine, Sabrina taught under Romana’s supervision as well as at 2121 Broadway. In addition, she is so thankful for the opportunity to have studied with a total of five elders and is considered a true 2nd generation Pilates instructor who has used her knowledge to mentor many other instructors.

She ran her own studio, Traditional Pilates of Cape Cod. In her studio in Massachusetts, which she operated for 21 years, she worked with dancers, athletes, seniors, Parkinson's patients, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and many other special populations.

Sabrina is a certified GYROTONIC & Gyrokinesis Instructor having learned directly from the system’s creator, Julio Horvath, she also holds several other certifications including Classical Ballet levels 1-8 with the renowned BOLSHOI BALLET of Moscow Russia. She truly believes Pilates is for every body and is excited to be living in Richmond and sharing her passion for health and wellness with her clients.

Our Health Mission

Our experienced nutrition professionals put your healing needs first. We are accustomed to working with mast cell activation syndrome and other "Zebra" diseases. We frequently work with individuals that have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and other connective tissue diseases, dysautonomia, autoimmune small fiber polyneuropathy, immunodeficiency, and other disorders. Our goal is to find and work on the root cause of a person's medical challenges to help better find a path to alleviating and improving the health of our patients.

At MCAD, we work together as a cohesive team to assess every client's health status. When there are complicated health challenges it is essential to look beyond the basic and assess environmental and mind body inputs, nutrition, gastrointestinal health, and a comprehensive look at a individual's complete medical history.

Dr. Pizano is also happy to help coordinate care with other medical professionals on your team. She frequently works with a variety of medical professionals to help achieve the best of care for her clients.

Practitioners Who Care

Most of our clients come in hesitant to fully discuss their issues as they have not been believed by other doctors. Here at MCAD, we are accustomed to speaking with individuals with a complicated history and "Zebra" problems. We promise to listen fully and treat you with the respect that you deserve.
